GONZALES – Starting Friday, the left-turn lane from westbound La. 30 to the I-10 eastbound on-ramp will be temporarily closed in Gonzales as crews continue work on an ongoing roundabout project. 

Motorists needing to access I-10 eastbound continuing to the roundabout at Robert Wilson/St. Landry Avenue, make a U-turn and travel eastbound on La. 30 to the I-10 eastbound on-ramp.

On Oct. 12, the left-turn lane from eastbound La. 30 to I-10 westbound will also temporarily close.

The existing eastbound through lane will be converted to a temporary left-turn lane to maintain access to I-10 westbound, while the right through lane will remain open.

These changes will remain in effect through Nov. 13, Department of Transportation and Development officials said.

Construction on the project is moving into its final stages with these traffic changes. The roundabouts are expected to be open to traffic in late November or early December, with additional work expected after that. The project, DOTD says, will be fully complete by late January.
