LIVINGSTON — Doyle High School leaders unveiled renderings for a new football field and athletic fieldhouse as the school continues rebuilding its football program.

The school plans to build the facilities over the coming year.

"There's a lot of excitement about bringing football back to our community. That support and excitement is helping to move our efforts forward at a great pace," Principal Ashley Sharp said.

Sharp said the new football facility will seat 1,500 people and include a fieldhouse with locker rooms, a weight room and other training facilities for student athletes. The facilities will be on the west side of the existing Jimmy Sartwell Park, with the entrance off McLin Road.

The project will use local school district funds allocated by school board member Brad Sharp. The school also plans to offer sponsorship opportunities and a program for private donations.

Principal Sharp noted that the rebuilding plan started last school year with a junior high team for students in grades 6-8. The school will add a junior varsity team next year, and a varsity team is slated to start in the fall of 2029.

Livingston Mayor Jonathan "JT" Taylor said Livingston Parks & Recreation has started a recreational league for elementary-aged students in anticipation of those players competing in the school program in the future. Taylor said the program has teams in the 7-to-8-year-old and 9-to-10-year-old age groups, but not enough players signed up for a 5-to-6-year-old team this year.
