BATON ROUGE – Both Ascension and East Baton Rouge parishes announced Wednesday the final days for flood debris pickup.

Baton Rouge city-parish officials asked residents to move any remaining flood debris to their curb by Sunday, Nov. 6. Ascension Parish residents have until Oct. 31 to move debris to their curbs.

Officials in Baton Rouge say that any debris that is not curbside by the specified date will not be collected. Any resident who cannot meet the Nov. 6 deadline is asked to contact the Department of Environmental Services at soon as possible at 225-389-4865.

Ascension Parish will continue the extended curbside private property debris removal program on a case by case basis. To be included in the PPDR program, call the Ascension Parish Government at 225-450-5559.

Residents should also keep in mind that construction and reconstruction waste are not eligible for FEMA reimbursement and will not be collected.

If you live in East Baton Rouge Parish, you can track the debris pickup efforts online at http://gis.brla.gov/reportdebris.

Officials report that more than 1.6 million cubic yards of flood debris has been collected in East Baton Rouge Parish since Aug. 20. Nearly 300,000 cubic yards of debris was collected in Ascension Parish.
