BATON ROUGE - As one last test drive before the regular season gets started, high school football teams in the area batted in football jamborees. The most high-profile clash of the night was at Memorial Stadium between Catholic and U-High.

LSU football head coach Lane Kiffin was in attendance to watch his son Knox Kiffin start at quarterback for U-High, but the day belonged to Catholic. The Bears had the Cubs' number all night, and the U-High offense never really felt like it got in gear. 

The biggest play of the night was made by Catholic defensive back Howard Beach, who ran back a 100-yard pick-six on a ball thrown by Kiffin. Despite that pick, Kiffin showed glimpses of what he can do, particularly with his legs. The junior QB had a nice rushing touchdown, but it was called back due to a holding penalty.

Catholic won the game 20-0.

Elsewhere in the Battle on the Bluff, McKinley won on a last-minute touchdown. Kaleb Brown scored a quick touchdown, and then found an open Marquis Turner to convert the two-point conversion.

The Panthers won 8-6.
