LIVINGSTON - If you live in Livingston Parish and have a stray cat problem, you are in luck!

The town of Livingston hosted its first-ever Trap-Neuter-Return event to help manage the community cat population.

"This is a proven, humane approach that reduces strays over time, improves public health, and creates a healthier environment for both animals and residents," parish officials said.

Any cats that the traps caught should be brought back to the Livingston Parish Animal Shelter on Florida Boulevard in Livingston by 9 a.m. on Monday.

"You’ll be contacted on the 15th after surgeries to pick up cats with your trap, release them back where they were captured, then return the trap to the shelter," officials said.

The program is not for pets; it is only for stray and community cats.

Abigail Whitam spoke with Parish President Randy Delatte and Livingston Parish Animal Shelter officials about the event
