Man extradited to Baton Rouge after DNA from scene tied him to 1987 deadly stabbing
BATON ROUGE - A man arrested for a 1987 stabbing was extradited to Baton Rouge after DNA results identified him as a suspect.
Sean Atkinson, 62, was arrested in Mobile, Alabama in June 2026. Police said DNA evidence from the 1987 crime scene tied him to the death of Thomas Klotz.
Klotz, 45, was in Baton Rouge working with a local radio station when he was found dead in a hotel room on April 19, 1987. Officials at the time determined Klotz was stabbed to death.

Atkinson was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Aug. 5, records showed.
