Monday starts a transition toward drier weather following a wet Sunday. While most of the week stays dry with lower humidity, storm chances could return by next weekend — and they might have a tropical connection.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Continuing showers into the evening will gradually thin out overnight. Still, isolated activity remains possible toward dawn, as lows settle in the low-to-mid-70s. Though Monday starts with clouds and a handful of showers, sunshine will emerge by afternoon. Rain will become even spottier through the second half of the day as drier air moves in behind the weekend front. Afternoon sun will help nudge temperatures into the mid-80s, which is right on par with seasonal averages.

Up Next: The rest of the week looks much drier, with sunshine dominating most afternoons. Highs will climb into the upper 80s and might even touch 90° on occasion. However, the warm afternoons will follow comfortably cool mornings in the mid-to-upper 60s. This is thanks to another shot of less humid air advancing into the area.

Rain chances ramp back up late Friday and into the weekend. While the signal is there, exact details are unclear. This is, in part, due to potential tropical activity brewing in the Gulf. Stay connected as the week unfolds and the picture becomes clearer. See The Tropics section below for the latest on what the Storm Station is watching in the Gulf.

The Tropics: An area of low pressure is likely to form by midweek in the southwest Gulf. Though conditions are only slightly favorable, slow development will be possible. A tropical depression could form late in the week as the system drifts northward.

This is a system worth monitoring as it moves toward the Gulf Coast, but since a system hasn’t formed yet, the forecast will be prone to big swings. Local impacts (if any) are unclear at this time. On a positive note, strong wind shear near the coast should create a hostile environment, helping limit its strength.
