It is setting up to be a wet morning around southeast Louisiana with lots of showers and storms expected. Be sure to use extreme caution on the roadways as heavy rain and ponding water will be possible.

Today & Tonight: The AM hours are likely to be wet around the Capital Area. Because of all the rain and storms, it might be a good idea to leave your house a little earlier than usual. The highest rain chances will occur through about the noon hour. It will not be constantly raining every hour, but off and on showers and storms are expected. Into the afternoon, it will be much drier with only isolated showers and storms. The added rain and clouds will limit highs to the mid-80s. We completely dry out overnight, with lows in the mid-70s.

Up Next: Drier air will seep into the area on Friday, taking down rain chances. Outside of a stray afternoon pop-up storm, look for lots of sunshine and temperatures pushing back into the 90s. Even drier air moves overhead Saturday, driving storm chances down even lower. Lower rain chances will be short-lived, as an atmospheric disturbances affects us Sunday into early next week. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms on a daily basis during that timeframe. No washouts are expected.

The Tropics: Satellite imagery indicates that showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure, located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands, have become better organized tonight. If the current trends continue, advisories could be initiated on a short-lived tropical depression or storm later today. However, environmental conditions are expected to become hostile beginning on Friday, likely ending its chances for development.
