PORT ALLEN — The driver of a semi-truck that collided with a train in West Baton Rouge Parish was taken to the hospital Thursday morning, Fire Chief Butch Browning said. 

The driver's injuries were minor, Browning added.

The crash happened at the railroad crossing at North Line Road and La. 1 around 4:23 a.m.

The crash closed North Line Road in both directions between Phillips Way and La. 1, but the highway is not affected by the closure. By 5:50 a.m., the roadway reopened.

No leaks were coming from the train, but the 18-wheeler is leaking diesel from its side saddle. Fire personnel are on standby in case of ignition when towing and train movement begins, Browning said.
