Zachary outlasts Central in district opener
CENTRAL - The Zachary Broncos took down the Central Wildcats 31-21 in their District 4-5A opener.
The game didn't start great for the Broncos. They turned the ball over three times in the first quarter. Dylan Thompson intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble. Harlem Lindsey also picked off Zachary quarterback Jacori Platt.
It was also a slow start for the Wildcats. They were not able to capitalize off of their turnovers. They attempted a field goal in the second quarter, but missed it to come up empty.
Zachary would be the first to score when they nailed a field goal late in the second quarter. The Broncos led at halftime 3-0.
Central finally got on the board in the opening drive of the second half. After a deep pass down field to Brody Diel, quarterback Max Gassiott rushed in the Wildcats' first touchdown of the night.
