WBRZ, in partnership with Associated Grocers, is proud to present “2 The Pantry,” a campaign supporting the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room. Nonperishable food items can be donated at participating Associated Grocers locations using specially marked boxes. Additionally, supporters can make online donations by scanning the QR code available on printed materials at Associated Grocers retail member stores. We appreciate the support from our sponsors and the community in helping to feed those in need during these challenging times.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, an international non-profit charitable organization, is dedicated to serving those in need within our community. We rely heavily on donations to support our mission. If you would like to contribute, please consider making a donation to help us continue providing vital services. Since opening the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room in 1982 at this location, we have become the leading hot meal provider in the area. Our dining room offers a hot, nutritious meal and a brown bag supper every day of the year to the homeless, elderly, transient, and impoverished. Approximately 80% of our food is donated by individuals, restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, and the Baton Rouge Food Bank, with additional supplies from government commodities. Our kitchen staff and volunteers prepare meals from these donations, and funding for non-donated food and expenses primarily comes from individual contributions. We strictly adhere to health regulations, ensuring food safety and cleanliness.

The Dining Room is more than just a "soup kitchen"; it provides a complete, nutritious meal that is often the only balanced meal of the day for many in our community. Our Bags of Hope help prevent hunger, and volunteers from various backgrounds—retired individuals, social club members, attorneys, nurses, and students—serve with kindness and compassion. Our doors are open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., welcoming anyone in need, no questions asked. We understand that, but for the grace of God, any one of us could be in similar circumstances.
