GRAMBLING - The Southern baseball team got the brooms out and swept Grambling State this weekend.

After winning the first two games of the series against Grambling Saturday, the Jaguars won Sunday's series finale 12-9.
Donny Sandifer led the way for Southern at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles.

The Jaguars are now 16-15 overall, 10-3 in SWAC play, and tied for first place in the SWAC west with Texas Southern.

Southern hosts Dillard University at Lee-Hines Stadium Tuesday at 6 p.m.

BATON ROUGE - It just keeps getting worse for the LSU baseball team.

LSU has lost all five series of SEC play and got swept for the second time in conference this weekend against Tennessee. The Tigers lost Sunday’s series finale to the Volunteers, 8-4.

Nate Ackenhausen got the start on the mound for LSU, tossing four innings and allowing just two runs.

Hayden Travinksi tied the game at two in the top of the sixth with a solo home run. But Tennessee’s Christian Moore hit a solo home run in the sixth off Aiden Moffett and a three-run shot in the seventh off Gavin Guidry to break the game open.

LSU is now 22-15 overall and 3-12 in SEC play. The Tigers are back in action Tuesday at home against New Orleans at 6 p.m.

BATON ROUGE - No. 6 LSU Softball defeated Auburn on Saturday in the second game of their series 2-0 thanks to a Kelley Lynch no-hitter.

Lynch, a transfer pitcher from Washington, threw all seven innings allowing no hits, no runs, three walks and struck out nine batters.

LSU's runs came off of a McKenzie Redoutey two-run home run to center field in the third inning.

The series is now tied 1-1 and LSU and Auburn will play in the rubber match on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee - LSU Baseball loses the series to Tennessee by dropping game two 3-1.

LSU scored their only run in the second inning when the Tigers had runners on first and second, and Steven Milam hit a sacrifice bunt that was over thrown to first which advanced all runners and Michael Braswell III reached home plate on the error.

Tennessee would not score until the bottom of the sixth inning off of a 2 RBI single, and then a home run later in the eighth would give the Volunteers a 3-1 lead that LSU did not have an answer to.

LSU has now lost their fifth straight SEC series and fall to 22-14 on the year and 3-11 in conference play.

The Tigers will try to avoid the sweep on Sunday at 2 p.m.
