So far, Hickerson has racked up 13 rushing touchdowns this season, including last week's explosive performance against Walker, in which Hickerson scored four. The St. Amant offense in general has put up big numbers, of course. The Gators have been putting up more than 40 points per game.
"Throughout the years, I've been more leading by example, but this year I've been trying to lead more vocally to get everybody involved," said Hickerson.
Heading into his senior season, Hickerson wanted to kick things up a notch from a very successful 20-rushing td junior year campaign. To help himself achieve that, Hickerson hit the weight room and added 12 pounds to his now 192-pound frame.
"I feel way stronger, way faster," said Hickerson. "I got more confidence this year, and my body just feels amazing."
Hickerson and the Gators ended a three-game losing streak their last time out against Walker, a game they won 42-14; their next test is another district opponent in Denham Springs.
