LSU prepares to play Kentucky on the road following dominant win over McNeese State

BATON ROUGE — Fresh off their 63-14 win over McNeese State, the Tigers are preparing to hit the road for an SEC matchup against Kentucky.

LSU is nearing the midway point of Lane Kiffin's first season in Baton Rouge, and despite several significant injuries, the Tigers' head coach likes where his team stands.

"I think I feel really good if not for the injuries," Kiffin said. "I don't make excuses. I just see how things are. I think I feel really good. I feel really good about our team."

The Tigers have been without several key players, including Trey'Dez Green, but Kiffin provided an encouraging update on his recovery Monday.

"If there's anybody that's going to come back sooner than maybe what people thought, it would be him," Kiffin said. "He is out of the brace, moving, so getting closer."

LSU now turns its attention back to SEC play with a road matchup against Kentucky. Kiffin expects a challenge from a Wildcats team coming off a comeback victory over South Carolina.

"I think they're really well coached," Kiffin said. "They run really cool plays on offense, problematic plays, and they're really sound on defense. They don't do a ton of things. They coach really well, and their players definitely believe in their systems."

LSU will face Kentucky on Saturday in Lexington. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m., and the game will air on ESPN.
