BATON ROUGE — Wednesday is National Walk and Roll to School Day, and several organizations are hosting a bike parade for the students of Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet School.
The Safety Place, Front Yard Bikes, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, ICARE, Louisiana State Police, the Baton Rouge Police Department and the Baton Rouge Fire Department, along with parents and school staff, will be meeting at BREC's Webb Park on Country Club Drive at 7:15 a.m. to escort students to school.
Drivers in the area should remain aware of the bike riders, who start their escorted ride at 7:45 a.m.
The event, organizers say, is intended to encourage children to be active, as well as to broadcast the benefits of safe bicycling.
