Much quieter weather is settling in with more sunshine and drier air. The bigger story is developing over the Gulf, where a tropical depression is likely to form this week and could bring a few issues to our weather by the weekend.
Today and Tonight: Tuesday should be a mostly dry day, with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s. Most locations should stay dry. Lower humidity should allow temperatures to dip into the upper 60s tonight.

Up Next: Wednesday and Thursday continue to look relatively quiet, with more sunshine and temperatures warming into the upper 80s to near 90. Rain chances should remain mostly confined to the offshore waters through Thursday.

The forecast becomes much more complicated late this week. Invest 92L in the southern Gulf is expected to become a tropical depression within the next couple of days, and the system will likely move generally toward the east-central Gulf Coast. Current forecast guidance ranges from a track toward Louisiana and Mississippi to a path farther east toward the Florida Panhandle. Strong upper-level winds near the Gulf Coast could also limit the system as it approaches land and cause the heaviest rainfall to favor areas east of the center.

Tropics: Invest 92L has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical depression. The system is expected to drift east-northeast for the next few days before turning north, but it is still too early to determine what impacts it could bring to the northern Gulf Coast.
