BATON ROUGE — A pedestrian is in the hospital after being struck by a car along Old Hammond Highway. 

Officials told WBRZ that first responders were called to Old Hammond near Millerville Road around 9:54 p.m. on Monday. 

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital in critical condition after the crash. 

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputies also responded to the scene. WBRZ has asked deputies whether the incident is being investigated as a hit-and-run.
