GONZALES — Ahead of severe weather impacts from Tropical Storm Isaias, the Ascension Parish Government announced that the Marvin Braud Boatway will be temporarily closed Friday.

The closure will start at 8 a.m.

The parish encourages boat owners, commercial mariners and area residents to utilize the remaining time before the closure to access the boatway and complete all necessary tasks, including securing vessels, removing gear and performing severe weather preparations.

Once the boatway is closed, it will remain inaccessible to watercraft traffic until weather conditions improve and parish officials conduct safety evaluations to reopen the facility.
