PHOENIX, Ariz. — The superintendent of Ascension Public Schools has been selected as one of 12 educational leaders from across the country to serve on the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching's Educator Advisory Board.

Superintendent Edith Walker will work with the other 11 members of the board to promote "transformative change in education, contributing their insights to strengthening innovation and improvement in school systems and student outcomes."

"The NIET Educator Advisory Board helps us be responsive to the needs of educators and students, while highlighting the strategies and best practices that we know have proven impact," NIET Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joshua Barnett said. "I look forward to working with this group of distinguished leaders throughout their board term."

The following educators will also serve on the board for a two-year term:
