BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to a Friday night house fire on Sycamore Street.

According to the department, the responding fire crews arrived at the scene around 9:50 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from a side window and the eaves of the home. 

Fire officials said the fire was located in a rear bedroom and hallway. While firefighters were able to limit the fire damage to those areas, the rest of the home received heavy smoke and water damage.

Officials said two adults who lived in the home were not present at the time of the fire. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
