BATON ROUGE — Louisiana Key Academy is launching a $200,000 fundraising campaign to build a new playground and enhance outdoor spaces at its Baton Rouge campus for students with dyslexia.

The campaign kicks off Oct. 4 and runs through Dec. 13, with the school calling on corporations, local businesses, foundations and community leaders to help reach the goal.

The school said outdoor spaces are meant to give students opportunities to grow physically, socially and emotionally beyond the classroom.

Louisiana Key Academy is offering corporate partnerships, naming rights and commemorative brick sponsorships as ways for donors to get involved.

Two community partners have already stepped up. Raising Cane's will support the Oct. 4 campaign kickoff with lunch and Baton Rouge Green has offered to contribute trees toward campus beautification.

The school says the project is more than a playground and describes it as an investment in Baton Rouge's future leaders.
