LIVINGSTON — An Amite City driver faces multiple charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide, following a Friday night multi-vehicle crash on I-12 that left two Ohio residents dead.

According to Louisiana State Police, troopers responded to the crash around 11:20 p.m. on November 6 along I-12 eastbound near LA 43.

Investigators determined that 24-year-old Daniel Dennison of Amite City was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze eastbound in the right lane alongside a 2024 Mercedes Sprinter Van in the left lane. The Chevrolet veered into the left lane and crossed into the path of the Mercedes. Both vehicles entered the median and struck cable barriers, which stopped the Chevrolet.

The Mercedes overturned, broke through the barriers, and entered the westbound lanes, where it was struck by an oncoming 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 54-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 47-year-old man—both from Beavercreek, Ohio—sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities noted the driver was properly restrained, while the passenger was not.

The driver and passenger of the tractor-trailer were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Dennison, who was unrestrained and sustained minor injuries, was determined to be impaired during the preliminary investigation. Following medical clearance, he was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on two counts of vehicular homicide, driving while impaired (first offense), careless operation, simple possession of marijuana, no seatbelt and no insurance.

Toxicology samples were collected from all drivers for routine testing. The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police.
