BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A federal court hearing originally scheduled for Wednesday that would have determined whether a temporary restraining order preventing outside parties from interfering with a meeting that could determine LSU's future in the SEC has been continued to a later date.

CBS Sports reporter John Talty broke the news on social media around 12:51 p.m. The hearing was originally set to begin in a federal courtroom in Alabama at 1 p.m.

WBRZ previously reported that SEC officials are meeting Thursday to "decide whether to terminate" LSU's conference membership. According to Tuesday's amended lawsuit, 11 of the conference's CEOs must vote yes to terminate a school's membership.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Alabama, came amid a legal battle concerning eligibility for players who have already gone pro, with news of the lawsuit breaking during a hearing in Baton Rouge where a judge ultimately ruled in favor of allowing players a fifth year of eligibility.

Despite being allowed to add the players to its roster by the 19th JDC decision, LSU did not add former Cleveland Brown Dae'Quan Wright, former New Orleans Saint Zxavian Harris and former Denver Bronco Blake Cotton to its roster.
