BATON ROUGE – The Department of Justice's Office of Justice Programs and Office for Victims of Crime has awarded a combined $20,036,461 to the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement to provide resources to agencies to assist victims of crimes.

Some $2.6 million will provide funds from the Crime Victims Fund to enhance state victim compensation payments to eligible federal and state crime victims, while the remaining $17.4 million will provide subgrants to local community-based organizations and public agencies that provide services directly to crime victims.

Supporting services by those organizations include crisis counseling, telephone and onsite information and referrals, criminal justice support and advocacy, shelter, therapy, and additional assistance.

LCLE, a foundation based in Baton Rouge, is dedicated to improving the operations of the criminal justice and juvenile justice systems and to promoting public safety by providing progressive leadership and coordination within the criminal justice community.
