BATON ROUGE — Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents cited three people for alleged alligator harvesting violations in two separate cases.

On Sept. 3, agents cited 47-year-old Blair Weber from Brusly and 77-year-old Clifford Legrange from Plaquemine in St. Martin Parish for allegedly cutting a live alligator from a line before reaching the hunter's quota

Agents received a complaint about the illegal alligator hunting activity in West Fork Bayou and later observed Weber and Legrange check the line before cutting the alligator loose.

Louisiana's alligator hunting regulations require hunters to inspect their hooks and lines daily and remove all captured alligators. Hooks and lines must be removed once a hunter's quota has been reached, LDWF agents said. Agents added that, if an alligator is captured after the quota has been met, the hunter is required to release the alligator in the most humane manner possible.

Cutting a live alligator from a line before reaching quota carries up to a $350 fine.

A week later, 46-year-old Kim Reagan from Franklin was cited along Franklin Canal in St. Mary Parish for taking an alligator without a license and intentional concealment of wildlife.

Agents said they saw a dead alligator tied up to the bank with several pieces of brush placed over the carcass in an effort to conceal the alligator. Agents added that Reagan later admitted to shooting the alligator several days prior with a .22 caliber rifle, despite not possessing a license to legally shoot the animal.
