Louisiana OMV system temporarily goes down Monday morning; systems back online
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles said Monday that its systems were down, but they have since been restored.
No reason was immediately given for the outage, but systems were restored shortly before 1 p.m..
Officials said customers can visit the OMV website here to reschedule appointments and services.
OMV Commissioner Dan Casey issued a statement saying the OMV has operated on "outdated, 50-year-old mainframe COBOL computer software" and that the failures for others to address and bring the OMV office into the 21st century is "visible to all those affected by today's outage."

Casey said the agency will announce a modern solution to replace the system in the coming days.
