BATON ROUGE — The 247th anniversary of the Siege of Fort New Richmond will be commemorated next week at the LSU Rural Life Museum.

On Sept. 19 and 20, the museum, in partnership with the Waldeck 3rd Regiment, invites the public to step back into the 18th century and honor Bernardo de Gálvez’s 1779 capture of British-held Baton Rouge during the American Revolution.

The two-day experience will showcase battle reenactments, 18th-century life demonstrations and other events that take a closer look at the daily lives of soldiers and civilians during the American Revolution.

Admissions are free for LSU Rural Life Museum members, and for non-members, the event is included with regular museum admission.

A full schedule of specific event times, performances, and battle reenactments will be released by the museum closer to the event date. For more information, visit the LSU Rural Life Museum website.
