BATON ROUGE — A Walker man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to raping two women in both Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish.

David Coutee was arrested in Livingston Parish in May and was accused of first-degree rape, aggravated second-degree battery, false imprisonment, aggravated damage to property and aggravated assault in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Arrest records said Coutee dragged a Baton Rouge woman through her home by her hair, forced her to strip naked and repeatedly beat and raped her in her attic.

Following his arrest, another victim in Livingston Parish came forward, leading to his arrest on two counts of second-degree rape and one count of aggravated battery.

A mistrial was initially declared for the case back in May.

Court records show that Coutee was arrested in Livingston in 2021 on second-degree rape. He was ultimately not charged with the rape but pleaded guilty to other crimes related to the incident. He was sentenced to eight years with all but three years suspended, according to 21st District Attorney Scott Perrilloux.

In September, Coutee pleaded guilty to second-degree rape and second-degree battery in the Baton Rouge case and to third-degree rape and aggravated battery in his Livingston case, according to a report by The Advocate.

On Monday, Coutee was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
