Metro councilman hosts District 2 and Friends Community Harvest
BATON ROUGE - A local councilman brought the community together ahead of the holiday season on Sunday.
Councilman Anthony Kenney hosted the District 2 and Friends Community Harvest, a community-centered event designed to support local families, at the Jewel Newman Community Center.
Residents were offered everything they might need, including hot meals, free clothing and baby items.
"I'm from this very same community. I went to school here, and I was born not too far from this center," Councilman Kenney said.
"We wanted to make sure that we give some holiday spirit to the people in the community and show that their elected official leaders care about them each and every day."
The community harvest provided free hams and non-perishable food items, helping families stock up as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.
