PLAQUEMINE — A Plaquemine man pleaded guilty in Eighteenth Judicial District Court as a jury was being selected for his trial on drug charges stemming from an Aug. 2025 arrest.

Malcolm "Fish" Jackson, 54, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine, crack cocaine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, Xanax and a Schedule IV controlled substance. He also pleaded guilty to transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses.

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, Jackson had been out of prison for less than two months when authorities received information that he was dealing drugs. Surveillance was set up and once evidence was gathered, a warrant was obtained to search his residence on Luckey Street in Plaquemine.

During the search, authorities confiscated 50 grams of fentanyl, 35 grams of cocaine, 11 grams of hydrocodone, 97 grams of oxycodone and 3.6 grams of Alprazolam. Manufacturing equipment and large sums of cash were also seized. The drugs had a street value of approximately $8,400.

"I commend the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office for responding quickly to information received about a drug dealer in our community and getting the evidence needed to put this guy away again," said District Attorney Tony Clayton. "We have zero tolerance for this in the 18 District and will continue to prosecute these cases forcefully. This criminal is a repeat offender and we are asking the maximum sentence."

District Judge Elizabeth Engolio set sentencing for Oct. 28. The case was handled by Assistant District Attorneys Brilliant Clayton and Nedi Morgan.
