BATON ROUGE — By the time a Baton Rouge gang member is back in court for sentencing on a drug-and-gun-related conviction, he will have been in court twice on allegations that he and others conspired to rob two people servicing an automated teller machine.

Nepton Hatfield Jr. is scheduled for sentencing June 29. He is also due in court May 7 for a pre-trial hearing on charges tied to the ATM theft, and a trial on the theft-related charges is set for June 15.

Last week, an East Baton Rouge Parish jury convicted Hatfield on the drug-and-gun charges. In 2024, an indictment charged him with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm while in the possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

A separate indictment named multiple alleged members of the "Bleedas" gang after two armed robberies of ATM repair technicians. In addition to Hatfield, those indicted were George Applewhite, Brandon Fleming, Hubert Jackson, Tremaine Lindsey and Quendez Vancourt.

The six were charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm, one count of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and obstruction of justice. At the time the charges were filed, prosecutors sought a criminal street gang-enhanced sentence, alleging the defendants committed these crimes in furtherance of the Bleedas organization.

If District Judge Carson Marcantel runs Hatfield's sentences consecutively, he faces 7 to 40 years in prison.
