Residents displaced by fire at Meadowbrook Apartments on East Brookstown Drive

BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on East Brookstown Drive at the Meadowbrook Apartments on Saturday.
According to officials, crews arrived around 2:30 p.m. to find fire coming through the middle of the roof of one of the apartment buildings, with all occupants safely outside.
Firefighters searched the building as crews worked to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.
Investigators believe the fire started outside a downstairs apartment before spreading into the attic and moving into other apartments.
The apartment building was considered a total loss. The Red Cross was contacted to help those displaced by the fire.
Investigators are working to determine the cause.
