Single-engine plane crashes shortly after taking off from Gonzales' Louisiana Regional Airport
GONZALES — A single-engine plane crashed early Tuesday morning shortly after it took off from Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales, officials told WBRZ.
According to Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry, the Cessna C210, piloted by a 74-year-old Ascension Parish resident, crashed about half a mile from the airport's runway.
FlightAware data shows that the flight took off just before 5 a.m. The flight, the tracking software says, ended less than a minute later.
Landry added that, when crews arrived around 6 a.m., the motor was found about a hundred yards from the plane and the plane itself was upside down in a field. The pilot was walking around and only had minor injuries when authorities arrived, Landry added.
