Southern University engineering program kicks off fall semester with scholar pinning event
BATON ROUGE — Southern University's Engineering Alumni Society held a pinning ceremony to welcome more than a dozen students entering the Engineering Scholars Program this fall.
The ceremony took place in PBS Pinchback Hall. The incoming class carries an average high school GPA above 3.8 and an average ACT score of 27.
"Highly talented, really gifted students, so we're here today celebrating them and giving them an introduction to what it's going to be like here at Southern University," Southern University Engineering alumnus Lee Hampton said. "So we have alumni here, previous cohort members here, all to give them professional development, resume writing, time management, the dos and don'ts of college."
