BATON ROUGE — An area of St. Louis Street located downtown between Louisiana Avenue and the City Court parking lot will be closed until mid-November as City-Parish crews work to replace a section of 50-year-old metal water supply pipe that ruptured on Sunday for the second time since Oct. 15.

Following the second rupture, officials determined that the entire pipe would need to be replaced.

City officials said the ruptured pipes supply hot water to the City Court building, which is currently without hot water, with the pipe running from the City-Parish mechanical building near City Hall to the City Court building.

While the pipe replacement is expected to be completed by the end of the week, it will take until mid-November for the street and sidewalk to be repaired and restored to traffic.
