BATON ROUGE — Louisiana voters approved a proposed amendment to the state constitution that will see federal revenue from coastal renewable energy production be placed into a coastal protection and restoration fund as opposed to the state's general fund.

Under the current law, the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority receives oil and gas money from sources at the state and federal levels. The amendment adds revenue from alternative energy sources to the coastal restoration fund.

In voting for the amendment, voters chose to see federal revenue received from renewable and alternative energy on the coast placed into a coastal protection and restoration fund.
