PORT ALLEN - A truck that eluded West Baton Rouge deputies in a pursuit Wednesday night - and was shot at by a deputy - was found wrecked in Baton Rouge a short time later.

A West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputy tried to stop the truck, an F-150, around 8 p.m. on Interstate 10. The driver didn't stop. Deputies chased the truck, at one point following it to a dead end. The truck turned around and drove toward a deputy, causing him to shoot at the truck.

The pursuit ended when pursuing officers lost sight of the truck, but they were able to find a gun they say was tossed from the truck during the chase.

Baton Rouge police found the truck wrecked at Lorri Burgess Avenue and Braddock Street. No one was inside.

West Baton Rouge investigators have identified the driver and other occupants of the truck but has not released those identities.

The deputy is on administrative leave and the sheriff's office is conducting an internal investigation of the encounter.
