Woman arrested for attempted murder in Monday afternoon shooting in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police have arrested one person accused of attempted murder after a shooting that happened along Mohican Prescott Crossover.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Prescott Road around 3:50 p.m. Monday following reports of a shooting. Once at the scene, officers learned that the shooting happened at Mohican Prescott Crossover, with the female victim moving to Prescott Road where the police arrived.
Police said that the victim confronted the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Aaliyah Street, about a man. At some point during their conversation, Street pulled out a gun and began shooting.
Street told police that she fired a warning shot to the side of the woman's head. She added that this "did not deter the victim," who she says "kept charging towards her." It was at this point, police say, that Street fired multiple shots at the victim. Street then struck the truck the victim was driving in.
Street then drove to the Port Allen Police Department, where she told their officers what happened. She was then taken into custody before being booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons and aggravated assault.
The victim, who was shot five times, is expected to survive their injuries, police said.
