MAUREPAS — A Wednesday night restaurant fire at Diversion Asian in Maurepas along La. 22 was found to be caused by malfunctioning equipment, according to the Livingston Parish Fire Protection District #9.

According to Fire Chief Danielle Lessard, crews were able to contain fire damage at the restaurant to an exterior back wall and an exterior storage area. The source of the flames was said to be a malfunctioning ice maker. 

There were no reported injuries as the restaurant was closed at the time of the fire. Fire Chief Lessard said the establishment is expected to reopen within the next few days.
