LSP: Driver who led State Police on chase suffered self-inflicted gunshot wound

BATON ROUGE — A driver who led State Police troopers on a chase was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound Wednesday night.
Trooper Shelby Mayfield said the chase started around 6 p.m. and ended at the corner of N. Ardenwood Drive and Renoir Avenue, where troopers found the driver with a gunshot wound to the head.
Troopers immediately began life-saving measures and the driver was rushed to a hospital.
Mayfield said that there is no indication that any trooper fired shots during the situation.
No additional information was immediately available.
