Tailgate on 2: LSU vs. Clemson: Krewe has its own tailgate firetruck!

BATON ROUGE — As LSU football returned home on Saturday, one tailgate group near Alex Box Stadium made sure it stood out from the crowd.

The group called KDST has been tailgating for more than 20 years, with one of their most talked-about setups being a firetruck a member traded for a Mustang.

"My buddy Shawn here, he had a Mustang, he traded it straight up for the firetruck," said Stephen "Doc" Cannon. "It was stripped out. He since has outfitted it with the TVs, the coolers."

The firetruck is fitted with flat-screen TVs and keg equipment.
"There's a kegirator in there and cooling keg equipment," Cannon said. "It's no longer a first responder unit, it's now a thirst responder unit."

The group also plays music out of a purple and gold van that Cannon bought from his parents for one dollar. Since then, he has put thousands of dollars worth of electronics into it, modeling it after the van from the A-Team.

KDST welcomes people from all around the world to its tailgates and even keeps a book signed by every person who has attended. This time around, a bachelor party from California made the trip.

"We're from California, from the Bay Area. We've been planning this trip for months now," said Colin Taylor. "Wednesday night, came and did the stadium tour. Thursday hit Bourbon Street, which was insane. Today we made it here, and this place is amazing."

Fellow bachelor party member Trevor Sanchez said the hospitality left an impression.
"Everyone's so hospitable. We're used to going to 49ers games ... this floors everything that we've ever known," Sanchez said.

KDST member Amanda Higgins said the group's long history is what makes it special.
"I just love the fact that Doc's family been doing this forever. It's just been a great team effort from everybody," Higgins said.

LSU will next play host to Louisiana Tech. Anyone who wants their tailgate story told can email WBRZ's Joe Collins at jcollins@wbrz.com.
