BOGAULSA — Two people died Thursday morning after a small plane crashed near the Bogalusa airport. 

Around 10:48 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the scene of the crash. 

Only two people were in the plane, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office added. 

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area while investigators and emergency personnel complete their work.
