As Halloween approaches, capital area announces events, trick-or-treat times

It’s Halloween in the capital area!

As All Hallow’s Eve approaches, parents must be familiar with trick-or-treat times across the different parishes that comprise the capital region. A list of these times is available below:

Assumption Parish:
- Parishwide: 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

East Baton Rouge Parish
- Parishwide: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tangipahoa Parish
- Town of Amite: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Rural Tangipahoa Parish: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Kentwood 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Livingston Parish
-
City of Walker: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Unincorporated Areas: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

St. Mary Parish
- Parishwide: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

West Baton Rouge Parish
-
Unincorporated Areas: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

West Feliciana Parish
- St. Francisville: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (limited to children 12 years or younger; trick-or-treaters are also asked to call at homes where the lights are on; Royal St will be close to vehicles.)

WBRZ will update this list as we receive more trick-or-treat time announcements. 

Before trick-or-treaters go door to door, local events are happening all month long to get people in the mood for the holiday. Read more about them below!

Friday, Oct. 18
- BREC’s Swamp Haunted Hikes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 8815 Oak Hills Parkway in Baton Rouge ($6 per adult and $8 per child; geared toward younger children).

Saturday, Oct. 19
- Halloween Marche in the Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at North Park in Denham Springs

Sunday, Oct. 20
- Spooktacular Block Party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Denham Springs Train Station.

Wednesday, Oct. 23
Kick-Off to Red Ribbon Week Downtown Trick 'r Treat and Night Out Against Crime at the 100 block of North Cypress Street in Hammond.

Thursday, Oct. 24
- Knock Knock! Boo’s There? from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Knock Knock Children’s Museum.

Friday, Oct. 25
- BREC’s Swamp Haunted Hikes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 8815 Oak Hills Parkway in Baton Rouge ($6 per adult and $8 per child; geared toward younger children).
- Trunk or Treat from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 4811 Harding Boulevard in Baton Rouge

Saturday, Oct. 26
- Trunk or Treat from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. George Fire Department, 14100 Airline Highway 
- Fifolet Halloween Parade starting at 4 p.m. in Downtown Baton Rouge
- Boo Bash from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Village at Willow Grove in Baton Rouge
- Trunk or treat from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Howell Community Park, 5509 Winbourne Avenue

Sunday, Oct. 27
- Haints, Haunts and Halloween from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at LSU’s Rural Life Museum ($6 admission for kids, $12 admission for 12+).
- City of Zachary Trunk or Treat in Downtown Zachary from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Livingston Pumpkin Palooza in the Park from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Circle Drive Park featuring a pumpkin carving contest with a grand prize of a Playstation 5. 

Thursday, Oct. 31
- Halloween on Harleaux from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the walking trail between WW Harleaux and TT Harris, Marshall Street to Fleniken Lane in Plaquemine
- Trunk or Treat in the Village of Tangipahoa from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., contact Allice Briggs at (985) 229-8300
- Trick-or-Treat Drive Thru with a costume contest! 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Galvez-Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 1628 Joe Sevario Road, Prairieville
- Livingston Parish Library Trunk or Treat from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Main Branch's parking lot (20390 Iowa Street)

During weekends in October, the 13th Gate is also open to provide haunts and scares to those brave enough. More information can be found here.
