AMITE — A Baton Rouge man convicted of breaking into several ATMs across southeast Louisiana has been sentenced to eight years in prison. 

Alfred Roy Cobb, also known as "The Saw Bandit," was arrested in Texas in December 2024 after U.S. Marshals found him at a U-Haul facility. He was then extradited to St. John the Baptist Parish in connection with an Oct. 12 incident where crowbars and a heavy-duty cutting saw were used to break into a bank ATM in LaPlace.

Cobb was booked for simple burglary and criminal access to an ATM, both of which are felonies, in St. John. 

He faced charges in Tangipahoa, Livingston and East Baton Rouge parishes for similar ATM burglaries, as well as felony gun charges in Texas. 

On Aug. 24, the 34-year-old was sentenced to eight years in state prison on charges in Tangipahoa Parish.
