Baton Rouge Ocean Commotion event teaches students about Louisiana coastal science
BATON ROUGE — The annual Ocean Commotion fair stopped by Burden Gardens in Baton Rouge on Wednesday to teach students about Louisiana coastal science.
More than 2,000 students and teachers attended the fair. Exhibits covered marshes, invasive species, boating safety and Louisiana wildlife.
The Louisiana Sea Grant College Program put on the event.
"So what we're trying to do is teach students about the importance of coastal and environmental sciences, especially with the focus on what's going on in Louisiana. So there's people from state agencies to talk about it, research entities, groups from nonprofits and so everybody's here trying to make sure our students have a fun day out in the gardens, but learn something about the place where they're from," Dani Diiullo with Louisiana Sea Grant said.
