BATON ROUGE — The Baton Rouge Police Department received a nearly $1 million grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, according to officials.
The yearly grant of $990,975 will help fund overtime enforcement from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30, 2027.
The enforcement will target speeding, impaired drivers and seatbelt violations, and will also help officers provide extra enforcement around holidays.
Officials said assignments will be based on traffic trends, including crashes and resident complaints.
