DENHAM SPRINGS — A Denham Springs man was killed in a single-vehicle crash along La. 16 near Rolling Acres Drive in Livingston Parish on Saturday afternoon, according to Louisiana State Police.

Troopers said the 34-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota Sequoia south on La. 16 at a high rate of speed when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road while attempting a left-hand curve, causing it to overturn multiple times before striking a culvert.

The 34-year-old driver, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

A front seat passenger in the vehicle who was properly restrained sustained moderate injuries before being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
