LIVINGSTON — Residents in Livingston Parish took to the waterways on Saturday as part of the Love the Waterways Campaign. 

The effort is the state's first cleanup aimed at tackling litter and debris in rivers, lakes and shorelines.

According to Livingston Parish Fire Protection District #9, waterways make up a large area of the fire district. Keeping the waterways clean not only helps keep the state beautiful but also safer. 

Volunteers picked up litter near the Riverside Marina, the Canal Bank, the Black Lake Club, Manny's and Fred's.
