Multiple storm-related deaths reported after Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin
BATON ROUGE — Two people were killed by falling trees as Hurricane Isaias made landfall Friday night, according to authorities in both Alabama and Florida.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office in Florida said a tree fell on a house, killing a woman. The sheriff also shared that a second storm-related fatality occurred due to carbon monoxide poisoning from an improperly ventilated generator. Four other people in the home with the generator were hospitalized due to injuries.
On Saturday, the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency said that a person died after a tree fell onto a home in Birmingham, Alabama, during the storm.
