PONCHATOULA — Students at Ponchatoula High School were temporarily evacuated on Monday morning due to an overheated electrical panel at the school, according to school officials. 

The students were evacuated so that the fire department could check the panel and evaluate the situation. 

Parents and guardians were advised by school officials not to come to the school, as they cannot allow check-outs at this time. 

The school gave the all-clear shortly after 11 a.m., confirming that students were safe and had returned to class. 

"The electrical panel has been repaired and is working as it should. The fire department has deemed the building safe. Students are returning to class and we are resuming our normal class schedule," officials said online.
